IDENTIFYING & TARGETING

FAILING HOUSEHOLDS IN KARAMOJA

WELCOME

We are DOING WHAT WE CAN

to help households that are failing to get enough food to eat in Karamoja scale up their livelihood activities and build stronger support networks to become food secure. This is an independent trial that we are testing in a village in Kotido district. For more information, please contact us.

Our Livelihood Assistance Programme helps households that are food insecure develop cottage industries based on existing livelihood initiatives that they are comfortable doing and have the skill set for.

Our Good Neighbour Programme helps communities develop a centrifugal support network so that when a household among them is experiencing hardship, they will mobilise contingencies of practical assistance.

Doing What We Can Good Neighbour Programme

Completed Project

In  2024, we provided every home in the village with a Solar Lantern

Recipients describe how having light at night benefits them. Adults say they are able to conduct livelihood activities even after the sun goes down. Parents say that their children are continuing to learn after dark. The lanterns are also contributing to the security of their homesteads.

A total of 208 households received a lantern
Each lantern cost £3.00
